From new leadership and growing locations, here are seven updates from New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery to know in 2024:
1. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery was among 134 hospitals named to Healthgrades' Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence ranking, and it is the only hospital to earn the top rating in all four surgery cohorts.
2. West Palm Beach-based Hospital for Special Surgery Florida named Heather Woolf, RN, as vice president for its Palm Beach County facilities.
3. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery and Stamford (Conn.) Health established the HSS Spine Center with Stamford Health. The spine center, formed in 2023, is led by Steven McAnany, MD, and Andrea Douglas, MD.
4. West Palm Beach-based Hospital for Special Surgery Florida received a $2 million contribution from HSS Trustee Marina Kellen French and her daughter Annabelle Garrett of Wellington.
5. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery named Jeff Wang as senior vice president and chief innovation officer.
6. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery has extended its care partnership with the WNBA's New York Liberty. HSS has been the official care partner of the team for 19 seasons, and the extension will add five more years to the partnership.
7. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery launched a clinical trial that will evaluate the efficacy of concentrated bone marrow aspirate as an addition to ACL revision surgery.
