Keith Meister, MD, performed elbow surgery on Braxton Garrett, a pitcher for the Miami Marlins, on Dec. 16 in Arlington, Texas.
Dr. Meister performed a left elbow ulnar collateral ligament revision surgery with an internal brace, according to a Jan. 8 news release from mlb.com.
Mr. Garrett experienced left elbow discomfort before a game on June 23, which caused him to miss the remainder of the 2024 MLB season dealing with a left forearm flexor strain.
He previously underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in June 2017.
The team said that Mr. Garrett will miss the entirety of the 2025 MLB season.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers.
