Here are five major health systems that have secured major donations for their orthopedics programs since June 17.
1. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery received a $7.5 million donation to support the construction of a new orthopedic surgical center in Naples, Fla., from the Kapnick Foundation.
2. Ross and Mary Whipple pledged $1.5 million to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, with a portion going to support orthopedics.
3. The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center's UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center secured a $25 million donation from the Saunders Foundation, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Philip Saunders.
4. The University of Pittsburgh received an $18.5 million donation from the Orland Bethel Family Foundation to support a biological specimen repository within the Orland Bethel Family Musculoskeletal Research Center for orthopedic research.
5. The Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles received a $50 million estate gift by Meyer & Renee Luskin. The Luskins previously gave to the hospital in 2022 with a $15 million gift, and that donation added their name to the facility.
