Here are seven orthopedic surgeons making the news from the last week.
Tyson Cobb, MD, introduced a new treatment for patients with shoulder pain who are not responding to more conservative methods. The procedure, Tenex Health TX System, utilizes minimally invasive techniques to remove the source of tendon pain safely and quickly.
Foot and ankle surgeon F. Scott Gray, MD, is using 3D printing technology to manage complex traumatic, post-traumatic and disease-causing foot and ankle deformities. Dr. Gray serves as co-director of the Danbury (Conn.) Foot and Ankle Center.
Nata Z. Parnes, MD, has co-authored three medical research papers which were recently published in leading orthopedic journals. In the October issue, Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopy and Related Surgery published one of Dr. Parnes' papers. Arthroscopy Techniques published the other two papers.
Denmark, S.C.-based Voorhees College added Robert A. Hymes, MD, to its board of trustees. Dr. Hymes underwent an orthopedic traumatology fellowship at Seattle-based Harborview Medical Center.
Pensacola, Fla.-based Sacred Heart Medical Group Orthopedic welcomed Christopher Bibbo, DO, to its team. Dr. Bibbo focuses on limb salvage, deformity correction, trauma and complex lower foot and ankle reconstructive microsurgery.
Ross Henshaw, MD, is now performing a rare meniscus transplant as outpatient surgery at The Sports Medicine Center at Danbury (Conn.) Orthopedics. Dr. Henshaw is fellowship-trained in knee and shoulder surgery.
Joshua J. Jones, MD, will serve as an international ambassador of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health of the Bone & Joint Decade. Presently, Dr. Jones is the clinical assistant professor at Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Science and State University of New York at Buffalo.
