Wael Barsoum, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston.
In November, Dr. Barsoum was named president and CEO of the medical center. He will spearhead the clinic's leadership restructuring plan beginning in early 2019.
With expertise in adult reconstructive surgery, Dr. Barsoum's additional specialties include hip and knee reconstruction and replacement, hip and knee arthroscopy and revision knee and hip replacement.
Dr. Barsoum serves as the principal investigator for a variety of clinical, basic science and translational studies. He has more than 40 granted or pending patents, and he has received the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Innovations Award 10 times.
A fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Barsoum is also a member of the Knee Society and Hip Society.
After earning his medical degree from Columbus-based The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Barsoum completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic and adult reconstructive surgery fellowship training at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
