Musculoskeletal management services organization Spire Orthopedic Partners has partnered with Peabody, Mass.-based Sports Medicine North and its Orthopedic Surgical Center of the North Shore.

The partnership is Spire's fourth in the last six months and its second in Massachusetts, according to an April 5 news release. In February, the MSO affiliated with Middletown, Conn.-based Middlesex Orthopedic Surgeons and Chelmsford, Mass.-based Orthopaedic Surgical Associates.

Founded in 1994, Sports Medicine North includes 20 physicians, 24 advanced practice providers, an ASC, three clinics and an MRI center. The practice completed 110,000 office visits, 60,000 physical therapy visits and 7,200 surgeries in 2021.

"We were introduced to Sports Medicine North by trusted Spire network physicians leveraging longstanding relationships with like-minded surgeons," Spire CEO Timothy Corvino, MD, said. "We are continuing to build a national network of market-leading orthopedic and spine surgeons, and the team at Sports Medicine North exhibits the excellence in clinical care, innovation and patient experience for which Spire practices are known."

David Fehnel, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with the practice, said it was a "commitment to excellence, a culture of collaboration and superior patient care" that brought the organizations together.

Spire launched in February 2021 and is backed by New York City-based private equity firm Kohlberg & Co.
