Louisiana Orthopaedic Association will have a female president for the 1st time

Leslie Sisco-Wise, MD, was named first vice president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association in March and will take on the role of president next year, making her the first woman to do so.

Four notes:

1. Dr. Sisco-Wise will succeed shoulder and elbow surgeon Matthew Williams, MD, as president in 2023.

2. She is head of hand surgery for Ochsner Health and director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center for Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans.

3. Dr. Sisco-Wise's clinical interests include hand surgery, microsurgery, and problems of the hand and upper extremity with and without arthroscopy and microvascular care.

4. She graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she also completed her orthopedic residency, before completing a hand and upper extremities fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco.
