Indiana Senate Passes Pain Clinic Regulating Bill

Pain Management

The Indiana Senate has passed legislation that is aimed at regulating pain clinics and prescriptions of large amounts of pain medication, according to a Courier-Journal report.
The legislation, authored by Sen. Ron Grooms of Jeffersonville, requires that licensed physicians have at least 60 percent ownership in clinics or offices that prescribe controlled substances. It also gives the Medical Licensing Board more authority to set rules for pain clinics.

The bill now moves to the Indiana House for consideration, according to the report.
