William Doran, DO, orthopedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist at TidalHealth Orthopedics in Seaford, Del., has completed 1,000 joint replacements using Stryker's Mako robot, according to a Feb. 29 report from the Daily State News.
He is the first surgeon in Delaware to reach the milestone and was an early pioneer of the Mako robot in the region.
Since introducing Mako at the health system in 2018, he has performed more robotic procedures than any other surgeon in the state, according to the report.
The robot allows surgeons better accuracy and control and better outcomes for patients. At his current rate, Dr. Doran is on track to complete 2,000 Mako procedures by early 2025, he told the State News.
