DePuy Synthes Trauma develops new trauma biologic implant: 5 key notes

Spinal Tech

DePuy Synthes Trauma has developed a biologic implant for formation of new bone in trauma surgery.

Here are five key notes:

1. The CONFORM Flex is a pre-hydrated demineralized canecellous bone tissue matrix.

2. The implant is intended for trauma extremity procedures. It is designed for fusions and filling bone voids.

3. The implant is available in cubes and strips, and it's osteoconductive and osteoinductive.

4. Secured in place, the implant absorbs and retains bone aspirate, blood and saline, and can be compressed up to 50 percent of its size.

5. The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation processes CONFORM Flex.

"I was especially impressed by the way it maintained its position and integrity during positioning and compression of the fusion sites with internal fixation," said Stephen Carley, MD, Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va.
