Medical device company Boston Scientific launched its WaveWriter Alpha spinal cord stimulator systems in the U.S., according to a Jan. 14 news release.
Four things to know:
1. WaveWriter has four MRI implantable pulse generators that allow personalized treatment based on the patient's needs. It offers access to waveforms that cover many areas of chronic pain.
2. The device layers paraesthesia and paraesthesia-free options simultaneously to target nerves along the spinal cord.
3. WaveWriter is indicated as an aid in the management of chronic intractable pain of the trunk and/or limbs including pain associated with failed spine surgery syndrome.
4. The system launched in Europe in September and received FDA approval in December.
