Medical City Frisco (Texas), an HCA Healthcare affiliate, has added Surgalign's Holo Portal Surgical Navigation System for lumbar spine procedures to its clinical toolkit.
The first procedure using the system was performed by Ripul Panchal, DO, a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in spinal disorders.
The Holo Portal received FDA clearance for lumbar spine procedures in January 2022. It is the first surgical guidance platform that incorporates artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
Five medical facilities have used the portal in over 30 procedures since May 2022, according to a March 2 press release.
