George Picetti, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group at Sutter Medical Center.
Dr. Picetti is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex adult and pediatric spine surgery and minimally invasive spinal deformity reconstruction. He is well known for his minimally invasive approach to scoliosis treatment and is head of minimally invasive spine surgery at the Sutter Children's Center.
He received his medical degree from Omaha, Neb.-based Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Picetti underwent orthopedic spine fellowship training at the Texas Back Institute in Plano.
In the mid-1990s, Dr. Picetti worked on an endoscopic instrumentation for scoliosis treatment. He is actively interested in research and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Picetti has more than 10 years of experience treating patients and teaching in developing countries and currently serves as the director of Spine Overseas, a volunteer-based program for orthopedic and neurosurgeons to treat complex spinal pathologies in developing countries. He was one of the first surgeons to perform a Nexxt Spine Nexxt Matrixx interbody system implantation.
