Spine surgery safer in hospitals vs. outpatient center
A study, published in The Spine Journal, examined whether anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures are safer in hospitals or outpatient facilities. Of the patients who underwent outpatient surgery, 5.5 percent needed repeat operations. Of the hospital patients, 4.1 percent required repeat operations. Patients who chose outpatient surgery were also 25 percent more likely to experience postoperative kidney failure.

ROC-LA 1st outpatient center in U.S. to install ExcelsiusGPS for spine surgery
Robotics Outpatient Center, Los Angeles furthered its position as a leader in robotics by becoming the first outpatient center in the U.S. to purchase Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS. The ExcelsiusGPS robotic system provides surgeons real-time imaging of a patient's anatomy while integrating its robotic arm navigation with the surgeon's surgery plan.
What to know about Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center
Since 2008, the Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center has been offering patient low cost, minimally invasive outpatient surgeries. Physicians at the ASC spend the majority of their time performing microdiscectomy or micro compression outpatient spine surgeries. The ASC estimates its physicians operate on 85 microdiscectomy patients each year. Annually, the outpatient center performs approximately 6,000 procedures.
Mayfield Spine Surgery Center has performed 33k+ surgeries since opening
Mayfield Spine Surgery Center was developed in 2007 by a group of neurosurgeons at the Mayfield Clinic, both based in Cincinnati. Since opening, physicians at Mayfield Spine Surgery Center have performed more than 33,000 surgeries. Forty-five percent of the surgeries performed at the outpatient center are discectomies or decompressions, followed by spinal fusions, 30 percent.
