Dr. Death podcast chronicling Dr. Christopher Duntsch to become TV show

The story of infamous neurosurgeon Christopher Duntsch, MD, could soon become a TV show.

In line with a trend of movie and television studies purchasing the rights to hit podcasts, the New York Times reported a TV show based on the podcast "Dr. Death," chronicling Dr. Duntsch's practice and multiple malpractice suits, is "in the works."

Dr. Duntsch, who practiced in Texas, was convicted of knowingly injuring an elderly patient during a spine surgery procedure that resulted in paralysis; but that wasn't the first complaint against Dr. Duntsch. A slew of complaints from former patients and fellow clinicians preceded the incident.

He is currently serving a life sentence in prison and would be eligible for parole after 30 years. Healthcare and science writer Laura Beil produced the podcast for Wondery.
