Spine

Farmington, N.M.-based San Juan Regional Medical Center has an opening for a neurosurgeon, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Three things to know:

1. The position has been open for at least 18 months. The hospital is offering a base salary of up to $750,000 and benefits including student loan repayment.

2. The 194-bed San Juan Regional Medical Center sought to hire three neurosurgeons. Two have been hired to date.

3. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, D-N.M., told the Albuquerque Journal she wants to address the state's physician shortage from a "variety of angles," like by raising the state's Medicaid reimbursement rate. Gov. Grisham also aims to use Medicaid funds to support more residency slots in New Mexico.
