Hamid Abbasi, MD, PhD, of Inspired Spine, will train Jose Jimenez-Almonte, MD, an Orlando-based spine surgeon, in the oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion procedure, according to an Oct. 25 news release.
The OLLIF procedure is a minimally invasive alternative to open spinal fusion. Dr. Abbasi has also taught the procedure in different countries including Ecuador and Oman.
"Dr. Abbasi's mastery of the OLLIF procedure, coupled with Dr. Jimenez-Almonte's expertise and dedication, holds great promise for the advancement of minimally invasive spine surgery in the Orlando region," Amanda Armagost, a representative from Inspired Spine, said in the release.
