Sacrix unveils new alternative to revision spine surgery

Spine

Sacrix in a research paper shared a less exposure spine surgery technique to help patients avoid revision procedures.

The publication in the Journal of Spine Surgery evaluated outcomes of patients with sacroiliac joint pseudoarthrosis after failed direct lateral fixation, according to a Jan. 6 news release. Researchers introduced a percutaneous lateral-oblique transfixation technique with two variable-threaded screws while preserving the original implants.

The paper is the first article to show "a lateral-oblique transfixation technique with two variable-threaded screws for successful salvage of SIJ pseudoarthrosis after direct lateral fixation without implant removal."
