Since Dec. 1, there have been two major updates to federal cases involving spine surgeons.
1. Denver neurosurgeon Brent Kimball, MD, is among three people and a neuromonitoring business resolving kickback allegations for more than $2 million total, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado.
2. SpineFrontier had all kickback charges dropped by the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. The moves came shortly after SpineFrontier's money laundering charges were dropped. The company's founder, Kingsley Chin, MD, also settled with the U.S. Department of Justice in July over allegations that he violated the False Claims Act. Charges against Dr. Chin and Aditya Humad, co-founder of KIC Ventures, were narrowed.
