UCLA researchers Daniel Lu, MD, and Reggie Edgerton, MD, received a five-year $6 million grant from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering for research on cervical spinal cord injury therapies. Dr. Lu, Dr. Edgerton and their teams will be focusing their study on restoring hand function to patients paralyzed from the neck down.
Dr. Lu is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a clinician at the UCLA Spine Center. The research will also build on Dr. Edgerton's former findings on lumbar spinal cord injuries.
