Neurosurgical Focus dives into anterior thoracolumbar spine surgery

Spine

The September issue of Neurosurgical Focus focuses on anterior approaches to thoracolumbar spine surgery.

Although anterior spine surgery has been around for a while, the adoption of anterior approaches has been restricted by the "perceived morbidity of these techniques compared to posterior approaches," according to the journal.

However, recent years have highlighted the benefits of anterior surgery for improving alignment as well as the evolution of new technologies and techniques.

The topics in the September issue range from the efficacy of indirect decompression to outcomes for back pain after anterior lumbar fusion
