Past AMSSM President Named CMO of Team USA During Olympic Games

Cindy J. Chang, MD, past president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, has been named chief medical officer of Team USA during the London Games. She is the first female to have this position. Dr. Chang, a sports medicine physician with the University of California, served as head team physician at the University of California-Berkeley from 1995 to 2008 and continues to serve as a consultant and team physician for the Cal intercollegiate athletes.

She also served as team physician with the 1998 and 2002 Paralympic teams and chief medical officer for the 2008 US Paralympic team in Beijing.
