Jorge Chahla, MD, PhD, of Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, performed knee surgery on three international professional athletes, the practice said Oct. 21 in a news release.
Dr. Chahla, a team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Fire, recently operated on Brazilian tennis professional Luisa Stefani, who injured her knee during the U.S. Open women's doubles semifinals.
Earlier this year, he performed knee surgeries on Seattle Sounders midfielder Nico Lodeiro of Uruguay and tennis pro Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina.
Mr. del Potro, formerly the third-ranked player in the world, has since completed his rehab and played in an exhibition match. Mr. Lodeiro was back on the field one month after surgery, according to Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.
