Brian Cole, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and team physician for the Chicago Bulls, recently discussed the treatment of Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah on Comcast SportsNet, according to a practice news release.
Mr. Noah injured his right thumb during a game in November and received surgery for the torn ligament last week. Mark Cohen, MD, and John Fernandez, MD, who are both hand, wrist and elbow surgeons at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, operated on Mr. Noah last week.
Dr. Cole said it was best to perform the thumb surgery rather than risk the change of receiving permanent damage. Mr. Noah's middle and ring fingers are now immobilized to allow the ligaments to heal more predictably.
