1. Dr. James Andrews Performs Knee Surgery on Cincinnati Bengals' Terrell Owens. Mr. Owens tore cartilage in his left knee during an early December game but continued playing for two weeks before aggravating the injury. He was examined by Dr. Andrews on Monday and was scheduled for surgery later that day.

2. Rothman Institute's Dr. Peter DeLuca Performs Surgery on Philadelphia Eagles Safety Nate Allen. Dr. DeLuca, Eagles team physician, recently performed surgery on Philadelphia Eagles safety Nate Allen's ruptured right patellar tendon. Mr. Allen was injured this past Sunday and faces a six-month or more recovery.

3. Hospital for Special Surgery's Dr. Russell Warren Examines New York Giants' Steve Smith. Dr. Warren, team physician for the New York Giants, recently examined receiver Steve Smith's injured left knee. Mr. Smith incurred the injury after a tackle from behind. An MRI exam revealed the injury that will take Mr. Smith off the field for the rest of the season. He was out of the game earlier in the season recovering from a torn pectoral muscle as well.

4. Dr. Richard Steadman Performs Knee Surgery on Portland Trail Blazers' Greg Oden. Dr. Steadman will be joined by Don Roberts, MD, a surgeon with Rebound, a practice in Vancouver, Wa., and a team physician for the Trail Blazers. The surgery will take place at The Steadman Clinic. Mr. Oden will undergo surgery next week for a microfracture in his left knee.

5. Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Physicians Operate on Chicago Bulls' Joakim Noah. Mark Cohen, MD, and John Fernandez, MD, hand surgeons at Chicago's Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, have performed surgery on Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah for a torn ulna collateral ligament in his right thumb. Mr. Noah first injured his hand during a Nov. 27 game but continued playing into December, which is unusual for professional athletes with similar injuries.

6. Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic's Dr. Steve Shin Performs Surgery on Baseball's Derreck Lee. Dr. Shin, a hand specialist, performed surgery to repair a torn ligament in Mr. Lee's right thumb, an injury that hindered his performance during the 2010 baseball season with the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. He was instructed to wear a cast for six weeks and complete four weeks of rehabilitation.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Deon Butler recently underwent surgery at the Stanford Medical Center in California to repair a broken bone in his right leg. Butler broke his bone in two places during the fourth quarter of a game against the San Francisco Buccaneers. A rod was inserted to stabilize the injury until he could have surgery.
