Orthopedic surgeon Neal S. ElAttrache, MD, will become the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's 47th president July 7.
Here's what you should know:
1. Dr. ElAttrache will be installed as president during AOSSM's annual meeting in San Diego.
2. Dr. ElAttrache specializes in sports medicine at Los Angeles-based Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
3. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe fellowship.
4. Dr. ElAttrache is the Los Angeles Dodgers' and the Los Angeles Rams' head team physician. He serves as an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the PGA Tour. He was also on-site senior surgeon during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
5. The Los Angeles Daily News named Dr. ElAttrache among the Top 50 Most Powerful in LA Sports, he was named one of the "Best Doctors in America" for 12 years and Castle Connolly recognized him as one of "America’s Top Doctors."
6. He is the Herodicus Society's past president.
