Orthopedic implant company LimaCorporate is opening two facilities dedicated to 3D printing, according to 3D Printing Media Network.
Five details:
1. LimaCorporate is launching the Research & Innovation Center and an Advanced Laboratory for Testing and Analysis at its headquarters in Udine, Italy.
2. A team of 50-plus engineers will operate additive manufacturing and medical imaging equipment at the R&I Center, using 3D-printing technology and production data to develop orthopedic implants.
3. Experimental verification will be conducted at the Advanced Laboratory, along with simulation of new materials, production processes and orthopedic devices.
4. LimaCorporate hopes the new buildings will facilitate collaboration with scientists, surgeons and other companies specializing in orthopedics.
5. In 2019, LimaCorporate established the first in-hospital additive manufacturing facility for custom implants through a partnership with New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
