Bioventus launched its Osteomatrix+ bone graft for various spine and orthopedic applications.
Three insights:
1. The moldable bone graft substitute consists of bovine collagen and biphasic, hydroxyapatite/ß-tricalcium phosphate granules designed to produce a porous scaffold and sustained osteoconductivity throughout the bone remodeling process.
2. Osteomatrix+ is indicated to be combined with autologous bone marrow aspirate and packed into osseous defects of the extremities, pelvis and posterolateral spine. It is indicated for use as an autograft extender in the posterolateral spine. The device is designed to resorb and be replaced by host bone during the healing process.
3. "Osteomatrix+ represents the first of several next generation products that will be added to the Bioventus portfolio in the next five years," said Bioventus CEO Tony Bihl.
