The U.S. Department of Defense's Peer Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program recently provided the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a $750,000 grant to study the NuCress scaffold's ability to combat infection while regenerating bone, reports Newswise.
Three things to know:
1. NuCress is designed to promote bone regeneration in fractures, gaps where bone is missing and major injury defects.
2. The biomaterial's bone regeneration potential would benefit a range of patients including wounded soldiers, people with bone diseases, victims of major accidents and trauma.
3. NuCress was developed at the UA Little Rock Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences.
