6 updates in orthobiologics

Here are six key updates in regenerative medicine since Oct. 1:

1. Pensacola, Fla.-based Andrews Medicine, led by James Andrews, MD, is partnering with Houston-based Celltex Therapeutics to form a biotechnology company focused on stem cell research and sports medicine.

2. Bone Biologics, which focuses on spinal orthobiologics, announced its underwritten public offering for $5.1 million total.

3. Three babies have been born after UC Davis Health providers performed the first spina bifida treatment combining surgery with stem cells.

4. Westminster, Colo.-based orthobiologics company Cerapedics has appointed Valeska Schroeder as its new CEO, effective Nov. 1.

5. Aziyo Biologics promoted leadership and added new hires on its team, the company said Oct. 11.

6. Orthofix launched its Legacy demineralized bone matrix, and Alan Daniels, MD, performed the first case with it.
