11 places adding the BEAR implant since 2023

Since the start of 2023, several practices and health systems have added the Bridge-Enhanced ACL restoration procedure, which uses a patient's blood to help heal the injury.

1. Robert Cunningham, MD, completed the first surgery in Colorado's Vail Valley with the Bridge-Enhanced ACL Restoration procedure.

2. Freehold, N.J.-based Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute has become the first practice in Monmouth County to debut the BEAR implant for treating ACL tears. 

3. Pascagoula, Miss.-based Singing River Health System is the first in the state to offerthe BEAR implant.

4. Two orthopedic surgeons at Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth have become the first in the state to offer the BEAR implant.

5. Vero Orthopaedics in Vero Beach, Fla. added the BEAR implant in January.

6. Surgeons at Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center have performed the health system's first BEAR implant operation to reconstruct an injured knee ligament. 

7. Mercy health system in O'Fallon, Mo. added the Bridge Enhanced ACL Repair procedure.

8. Carmel, N.Y.-based Somers Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Group added the BEAR procedure for ACL restoration in November.

9. Louis Almekinders, MD recently performed his first procedure using the BEAR implant for ACL surgery at Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health.

10. Matthew Tao, MD, of University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, is the first surgeon in the state to use the BEAR implant for ACL surgery.

11. Christopher C Hasty, MD, completed the first BEAR implant procedure Sept. 3 at ECU Health in Greenville, N.C.
