The first two spinal surgery cases with TheraCell's TheraFuze DBF Fiber Bag were completed in Illinois and Texas.
One case was done by Frank Phillips, MD, at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center, and the other was done by Jack Zigler, MD, of Plano-based Texas Back Institute, according to an April 6 news release.
The fiber bag is an allograft alternative made from demineralized cortical bone fibers. It's able to maintain its form and integrity after filling and rehydration so surgeons can manipulate and implant it. The TheraFuze DBF Fiber Bag is part of TheraCell's portfolio of procedure-specific graft products.
