Brian Domby, MD, of Florida Medical Clinic in Brandon, started using the MACI regenerative procedure for cartilage repair, the practice said Dec. 21.
The ACI (autologous chondrocyte implantation) MACI procedure is designed to treat and repair cartilage defects by regenerating the patient’s own hyaline cartilage, a weight-bearing cartilage that lines the surface of the knee joint, according to Florida Medical Clinic's website.
Dr. Domby is a sports medicine specialist and team physician for the Tampa Bay Lightning, USA Women's Hockey, US Figure Skating and other local organizations.
