43% of Consumers Believe EHRs Are Well-Protected by Healthcare Providers

Health Information Technology

Nearly half of consumers believe that their physicians protect their electronic health records sufficiently, according to a new survey from Gfk Custom Research and IDentity Theft 911.
Despite the increasing number of healthcare data breaches reported, 43 percent of healthcare consumers believe that their EHRs will be protected by their physicians.

In fact, only 2 percent of those aged 18 to 34 years and 7 percent of those over the age of 50 believed that their healthcare providers could have a data breach.

For the survey, 1,000 consumers were polled.
