Surgeons at Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center performed the first outpatient robot-assisted spine surgery in Atlanta with Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS.
Polaris Spine is the first ASC in the southeast and the second ASC in the U.S. to use the robotic navigation system. The ExcelsiusGPS navigation system is compatible with preoperative CT, intraoperative CT and fluoroscopic imaging modalities and is designed to minimize radiation exposure, streamline workflow and improve implant placement accuracy.
Polaris Spine was founded in 1979 as Peachtree Neurosurgery. The practice employs neurosurgeons Max Steuer, MD, Christopher Tomaras, MD, Thomas J. Morrison III, MD, Raymond Walkup, MD, and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist Shane Mangrum, MD.
