1. Median annual earnings of athletic trainers was $41, 340 in May 2009.  
2. Median annual earnings of the lowest 10 percent was $25,210.
3. Median annual earning of the highest 10 percent was $65,140.
4. Median annual earnings of those employed by colleges, universities and professional schools was $44,250.
5. Median annual earnings of those employed by general medical and surgical hospitals was $42,620.
6. Median annual earnings of those employed by offices of other healthcare practitioners was $40,220.
7. Median annual earnings of those employed by other amusement and recreation industries was $40,090.
8. Median annual earnings of those employed by elementary and secondary schools was $52,090.
9. The top paying state for athletic trainers was the District of Columbia, where median annual earnings was $72,910.
