SI-BONE published results from its study on three-year long-term outcomes for its iFuse Implant System, titled "Long-term prospective outcomes after minimally invasive trans-iliac sacroiliac joint fusion using triangular titanium implant."

The study analyzed long-term outcomes for 103 of the patients who participated in the Investigation of Sacroiliac Fusion Treatment trial and Sacroiliac Joint Fusion with iFuse Implant System trial. The patients suffered from SI joint dysfunction due to degenerative sacroiliitis or SI joint disruption.

Here are five things to know.

1. The LOIS study revealed pain, function and quality of life achieved improvements at two years continued at three years.

2. The researchers found mean preoperative SI joint pain was 81.5 (0 to 100 VAS). At three-years, joint pain fell to 26.2, reflecting a 55-point improvement.

3. Patient satisfaction also proved high among patients treated with the iFuse.

4. Researchers did not find any adverse events related to the iFuse or procedure.

5. The iFuse is a proprietary minimally invasive implant system designed to fuse the sacroiliac joint to treat lower back pain.
