MIS

An expert in less exposure surgery procedures, Jeffrey Carlson, MD, performed his 500th case using SpineFrontier's Invue plate and screws.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Carlson performed a one-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion as an outpatient LES procedure. The patient was discharged two hours postoperatively.

2. SpineFrontier's Invue screws include a connected tab feature that provides feedback for secure final screw locking. Dr. Carlson helped design the minimally invasive device.

3. The LES approach is designed around smaller incisions, minimized tissue disruption and reduced blood loss as well as surgery time.

4. Dr. Carlson is the president and managing partner of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center in Newport News, Va.

5. A board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Carlson underwent fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, both in Boston.
