Here are four spine and orthopedic device companies that recently expanded through acquisitions, new market presence or the construction of new facilities.

Boston Scientific announced plans to expand its Chinese market presence. The company is adding new employees and surgeon training centers in China.

 

Globus Medical has acquired Excelsius Surgical, a company that develops next generation surgical robotic positioning platforms for spine, brain and therapeutic applications.

 

Medtronic purchased Tryx, a producer of antibacterial envelopes for medical devices, for $160 million. Tryx's main product is the AIGISRx Antibacterial Envelope, which is place around implants prior to implantation.

 

MicroPort Scientific plans to open an 8,500-square-foot facility in Arlington, Tenn. The new facility is a part of the company's plan to transition to ownership of MicroPort Orthopedics, which it recently acquired from Wright Medical.
