Amedica cleared to sell Silicon Nitride Spinal Implant in Australia — 4 observations

Spinal Tech

Salt Lake City-based Amedica has been granted marketing clearance for its Valeo interbody fusion device in Australia.

Here are four things to know:

1. The Valeo product line is made of Amedica's proprietary medical grade silicon nitride ceramic.

2. Ideal for fusion due to its nanostructured surface, osteoconductivity, osteoinductivity, anti-microbial properties and ease of radiographic imaging, Valeo's makeup is ideal for fusion.

3. Amedica develops and commercializes silicon nitride.

4. Amedica has published 45 papers in peer-reviewed journals, emphasizing the material's success in previous Australian-based trial runs.

Amedica CEO Sonny Bal said, "We look forward to working with Australian surgeons, and providing them with improved options for spinal fusion surgery."
