Here are eight notable medtech mergers to know from the last five years:
1. AI-driven orthopedic robotics company Monogram Orthopaedics merged its wholly owned subsidiary, Monogram Technologies, into Monogram Orthopaedics.
2. Regenerative orthopedic developer Advanced Biologics merged with orthobiologic firm Isto Biologics. The companies completed the merger in October after working as partner firms since 2020. Both companies are focused on the development and production of bone-graft products.
3. Globus Medical and NuVasive recently marked the one-year anniversary of their merger.
4. IMAC Holdings merged with Brain Scientific. The move came weeks after IMAC Holdings sold its retail spine company, The BackSpace, to Curis Functional Health. IMAC's merger combined Brain Scientific's diagnostic and motion technologies with IMAC's regenerative rehabilitation services.
5. Orthofix and SeaSpine merged. Ninety-nine percent of SeaSpine common shares were voted in approval of the merger, and 98% of Orthofix common shares were voted in approval.
6. Orthopedic imaging companies CurveBeam and StraxCorp completed their merger in 2022. The combined entity, CurveBeam AI, focuses on orthopedic imaging.
7. Orthopedic imaging company CurveBeam and StraxCorp, a provider of cloud-based software to improve bone health, entered into a definitive merger agreement to form CurveBeam AI.
8. Integrity Implants and Fusion Robotics merged to form Accelus, which plans to accelerate the adoption of minimally invasive surgery as the standard of care in spine.
