Centinel Spine's prodisc L has "extremely low" long-term rates of revision and adjacent-level surgery, according to a study of 1,187 patients.
Five things to know:
1. Researchers included 1,187 patients who had lumbar disc replacement for chronic lumbar degenerative disc disease, Centinel Spine said in a Dec. 12 news release.
2. A total 772 had single-level disc replacement, 415 had a 2-level procedure, and 373 of the patients included had previous discectomy surgery. The group is one of the largest lumbar total disc replacement cohorts ever evaluated, the company said.
3. There were statistically equivalent improvements in outcomes for 1- and 2-level patients with and without past discectomies.
4. Rates of index-level revision were 0.67%, and adjacent-level surgery rates were 1.85%.
5. The study was published Nov. 22 in The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.
