Smith & Nephew recently partnered with VirtaMed in an initiative that will offer surgical simulation training for the company's surgical devices, reports Med Gadget.
Three things to know:
1. Smith & Nephew's surgical devices will be used in simulation programs for knee, shoulder and hip arthroscopy, which will include rotator cuff repair and meniscal repair techniques.
2. Connect, VirtaMed's cloud-based simulation management platform, will provide access to Smith & Nephew's simulators.
3. Each arthroscopic surgical technique will combine anatomic models with photorealistic virtual reality simulation. The simulations will be available to anyone who owns an ArthroS device from Smith & Nephew.
