Medtronic boosts spine portfolio, NuVasive's Pulse debuts and more: 5 device company notes

From leadership moves to technology debuts, here are five key updates from spine and orthopedic device companies in the last week:

1. The first commercial cases using NuVasive's Pulse Platform for spine surgery were completed in Ohio and Texas.

2. Medtronic announced three additions to its minimally invasive spine surgery portfolio.

3. Jeff Cambra, a medtech executive who spent 12 years at Medtronic and most recently worked for Zimmer Biomet, was appointed CEO of SpinaFX Medical, a Toronto-based minimally invasive image-guided therapy startup.

4. Carlsmed's newly launched patient-specific spine implant, Aprevo, was granted the New Technology Add-On Payment by CMS.

5. Medical device company MicroPort Orthopedics appointed orthopedic surgeon C. Lowry Barnes, MD, as medical director.
