Stephen MacMillan, CEO of Stryker, turned down a pay raise in 2010, keeping his total compensation at the same level since 2008, according to a Mass Device news report.
Since 2008, Mr. MacMillan earned $1.2 million in base compensation. However, he pocketed a $1.4 million performance bonus last year, up from the $545,000 in performance bonuses he acquired in 2009, according to the news report. Additionally, Mr. MacMillan reaped approximately $2 million in stock option awards and $225,000 in other benefits, including covered country club fees and personal use of the company jet.
Even though he led the company to a 15 percent bottom line increase, Mr. MacMillan declined the base compensation raise in 2010 because of the "challenging business environment," according to the news report.
