Surgical specialties saw an average of 0.5 percent increase in compensation in 2012, down from 3.4 percent in 2011.
The specialties that experienced the largest increases in compensation were:
• Endocrinology — 5.81 percent
• Infectious disease — 5.64 percent
• Rheumatology — 4.89 percent
• Anesthesiology — 4.60 percent
