In a Healthcare Finance News report, Jackie Griffin, associate vice president in client services at TriZetto Provider Solutions, discusses steps to take to kick-start ICD-10 planning at a medical practice.
The five steps are:
1. Identify all the places where your facility uses ICD-9 in current workflow.
2. Conduct a gap analysis to understand where you need to be by Oct. 1, 2014.
3. Identify solutions that can help your organization transition in these areas, such as new coding books, new superbills and new paper claim forms.
4. Outline your ICD-10 plan.
5. Implement your ICD-10 plan.
