Prisma Health is expanding its orthopedic services in Laurens, S.C., establishing freestanding offices for its orthopedics practice and outpatient therapies through part of a $2 million expansion project, according to a Nov. 20 report from The Laurens County Advertiser.
The addition is intended to pave the way for the system to hire new physicians, team members and add future services.
Prisma Health Orthopedics-Laurens will move from its current 2,261-square-foot location in a medical office building on the hospital campus to a 7,332-square-foot building previously owned by Palmetto Bone and Joint.
Physical, occupational and speech therapy will relocate from space inside the hospital to a 7,456-square-foot building previously owned by Palmetto.
Prisma closed on the purchase of the two buildings this week, more than doubling its orthopedic footprint in the county.
Services are slated to move into the new buildings early next year, with no lapses in care, according to the report.
