Twin Cities Orthopedics, St. Croix Orthopaedics to merge — 5 things to know

Twin Cities Orthopedics and St. Croix Orthopaedics in Minnesota are merging to create one large physician practice, according to a Star Tribune report.

Here are five things to know about the merger:

 

1. Once fully merged, the new group will have more than 100 orthopedic surgeons. Twin Cities Orthopedics currently has 84 physicians and 970 employees while St. Croix Orthopaedics has 25 physicians and 170 employees.

 

2. There aren't any immediate staffing changes planned.

 

3. Currently, Twin Cities Orthopedics has 24 locations and St. Croix Orthopaedics has 11 locations.

 

4. Subspecialties represented in the practice include foot and ankle care, sports medicine, knee and hip surgery, spine surgery and hand and wrist care.

 

5. The new group is expected to complete the merger in summer of 2015 and will be one of the largest privately-owned orthopedic practices in the United States.
