Jeffrey Bradstreet, MD, a Buford, Ga.-based physician who caused controversy in his practice by claiming to cure autism, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a local KPAX report.
Dr. Bradstreet is just the latest in a string of around 12 physicians and healthcare practitioners championing alternative medicine that died or have gone missing over the past few weeks, according to the report.
Before his death, Dr. Bradstreet's office was often filled with patients looking for the cure. Dr. Bradstreet's son had autism, which he blamed on vaccines. On the day of his death, Dr. Bradstreet left his house outside of Atlanta for a romantic getaway with his wife and was later found dead in a small river off the road. He was waiting for his hotel room to be ready at the time of death.
Initial investigators believe Dr. Bradstreet shot himself because the autopsy indicated the gun was shot at close range.
